Geometry, like life, depends upon basic arithmentic. Geometry uses arithmetic to
determine the critical features of a shape, such as lengths, angles, and diameters.
Geometry requires basic algebra skills including: multiplication tables; base ten number
system; arithmetic with whole numbers, decimals, and fractions; and arithmetic with signed
numbers. Students who understand these basic skills will do well in Geometry...and in life.

Basic Arithmetic applies to all aspects of life. Examples include adding the
distances between stops on a long trip, subtracting costs from revenue to determine profits,
dividing the amount of food consumed by the number of people to determine the average food
consumption, and multiplying the price of gas per gallon by the number of gallons needed.
