Pre-Geometry Review: Order of Operations

All mathematical operations require understanding and using the Order of Operations. The same basic order of operations applies to Geometry as to all areas of mathematics: Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication/Division, Addition/Subtraction (PEMDAS).

This video may be used as a refresher for the order of operations:

Read about the order of operations
Order of operations is a general mathematical concept for what is just common sense in the real world. For example, if two friends each have 2 cats, then the number of cats is obviously (1 friend + 1 friend) x 2 (cats per friend), or 1 frined x 2 cats + 1 friend x 2 cats. Both answers would give 4 cats. Violating the order of operations would result in adding friends and cats (or multiplying freinds and cats by cats and friends)...and not result in the right number of cats.
